Citizen Services
Registration
We recommend that all U.S. citizens register with the Consular Section, particularly if you plan to stay in Tanzania for several weeks or longer. Registration is voluntary, but may prove useful in the event of an emergency or if your passport is lost or stolen. We recommend that you complete the Internet Based Registration System (IBRS) prior to your travel to Tanzania. Once registered your names and e-mail addresses will be added to our distribution list for newsletters and announcements published by the Consular Section. Leaders of group tours should ask that there group member personally register online prior to there visit to Tanzania.
If online registration is not possible, U.S. citizens can visit the Embassy to register; however, online registration is the only way to ensure your information is entered into IBRS system. Also, group leaders unable to register their visitors can provide the Consular Section with the passport numbers, biographic data, and next-of-kin contact information for American citizens traveling with the group.
We ask that you keep your registration form current by updating your information on IBRS when necessary. You can also notify us via e-mail (drsacs@state.gov), letter, or fax when you move, change phone numbers, or depart Tanzania permanently.
