Regular Passport Renewal

Americans seeking to renew their U.S. passport should bring or mail the following items to the Consular Section at the time of application:

  • 2 recent 2 x 2 inch color or black & white photos with a white or light background;
  • Completed passport application form;
  • Current U.S. passport;
  • In the case of infants and children, the Consular Section requires a series of 'growth photos' taken over the last 5 years or since the previous U.S. passport;
  • A $75.00 (for adult) and $85.00 (for minor) application fee, payable in Tanzanian shillings or U.S. dollars. (If this is your first application for a 10-year validity passport, the fee is $100.00 for an adult and $85.00 for a minor);
  • Fees may be paid in U.S. dollars, Tanzanian shillings, or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card). Overseas, we cannot accept personal checks.

    • (New fee will be effective from February 02, 2008)

 

*First time applicants and applicants whose latest passports were issued more than 15 years ago MUST apply in person. Also, please note that the US Embassy is not responsible for documents lost in the Tanzanian mail system.
