US Embassy holiday closure for ‘Labour Day’

September 1, 2006

The American Embassy in Dar es Salaam will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2006, for observance of the U.S. Labour Day holiday.

The first Monday in September honours the creation of the labour movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of America. The first Labour Day holiday was celebrated on September 5, 1882, in New York City.

All offices, including the consular section, USAID, Peace Corps and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will resume operations on Tuesday, September 5, 2006.
