U.S. Ambassador Mark Green shares an Iftaar with Misugusugu villagers

Yesterday, September 25, 2007 the new U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania Mr. Mark Green visited Kibaha, Misugusugu village and the orphanage of the Mwinyibaraka Center, a part of the Mwinyibaraka Islamic Foundation, to join together with leaders and residents of the area for an Iftaar Dinner prepared by the foundation.
The U.S. Embassy Dar es Salaam donated funds to Mwinyibaraka Islamic Foundation for futari for Ramadan for the center and for the Iftaar dinner last night for the entire community.
On arrival at Kibaha, Misugusugu Ambassador Green was met by the chairman of the foundation, Sheikh Issa Othman Issa, and the head teacher of the Mwinyibaraka Center and orphanage, Ustadh Abdallah, as well as other leaders of the foundation and the village. After a short introduction about the running of the Foundation and its future expectations, Ambassador Green laid a wreath at the burial site of Sheik Ahmed Mohamed Msiha, the first chairman of the Mwinyibaraka Foundation.
Mwinyibaraka Islamic Foundation founded the madrassa and orphanage in 2002 at Kibaha Misugusugu. They still hope to establish a more formal education center.
During his remarks after the Iftaar dinner Ambassador Green thanked the villagers for welcoming him to the village to share the evening, talked about the similarities between the hopes of the children of the village and his own children, and praised the wonderful cooking --saying the cassava and other local foods he enjoyed were “kizuri sana!”
