Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Head to Attend Harvard Leadership Course
October 18, 2007
Dr. Ramadhan Mlinga, the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has been selected for U.S. sponsorship to attend a month-long leadership course at Harvard University beginning 21 October 2007. The course, offered at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, helps promising senior officials from around the world learn the skills needed for practical, effective leadership.
“Dr. Mlinga was the right candidate for the course because we have seen significant changes at the PPRA in the short time that he has led the organization,” said Pamela White, USAID Mission Director. “He has helped put the PPRA on the map, and he has faced tough challenges in trying to ensure the integrity of public procurement in this country.”
PPRA recently released the results of 20 audits of the procurement practices of key Government of Tanzania ministries, departments and agencies. “We hope this course will help Dr. Mlinga, as head of PPRA, effectively use the procurement audits his agency has just released to strengthen financial management in Tanzania, building donor and investor confidence,” said White.
The Kennedy School programme addresses ways for leaders to become more effective in problem-solving, strategic analysis, persuasion and negotiation. Some of America’s top educators, researchers and practitioners teach and share experiences in the programme.
