Information for Travelers

Registration

We recommend that all U.S. citizens register with the Consular Section, particularly if you plan to stay in Tanzania for several weeks or longer. Registration is voluntary, but may prove useful if your passport is lost or stolen or you need to be notified in the event of an emergency. At the time of registration, consular staff can provide updates on the general security situation, advice on areas or situations to avoid, and general information about traveling in Tanzania. If you cannot register in person, we recommend that you complete the Citizen Registration form online at http://tanzania.usembassy.gov/ and e-mail it to us at drsacs@state.gov. We will place the names and e-mail addresses of long-term visitors/residents on our distribution list for newsletters and announcements published by the Consular Section. Leaders of group tours should provide the Consular Section with the passport numbers, biographic data, and next-of-kin contact information for American citizens in their groups.

To register requires a (1) completed Citizen Registration form; and (2) copy of the biographic data page (inside cover) of your U.S. passport.

We ask that you keep your registration form current by notifying us via e-mail, letter, or fax when you move, change phone numbers, or depart Tanzania permanently.
