On behalf of Rear Admiral Tony Kurta, Commander of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, I want to thank the leaders, people of Urambo, and the civilian well drillers for their extraordinary work.

- ASANTE!

It is indeed an honor to be here and to commemorate the partnership and cooperation between Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and the people of Tanzania and Tabora in particular.

Water is a necessity of life. It is then most fitting that through the teamwork of you, your leaders, your government, and the United States, this water supply project has become a wonderful reality.

Together we were able to bring 17 water wells into this region. This accomplishment is a great example of what can be done when people, communities and nations work together. We value the special relationship we have with you and the result of this strengthened partnership is increased regional stability and when stability exists, tension is reduced and stress is decreased in the community. I commend the well drillers for their dedication and the handling of multiple challenges in a professional manner through open communication with you. This has reinforced our relationship with Tanzania as we seek to maintain a positive presence throughout the region. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and hospitality.

Today marks the official handover of these water wells to the Urambo community. These water wells belong to you and your community providing fresh water for your families and livestock. Taking care of these water wells and safeguarding them will bring long lasting operations for years to come.

In closing, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa and the United States Government is focused toward helping Africans provide for their own stability and security. This water supply project is one example of our commitment to a safe and stable African region.

Again, I am truly honored to be a part of today’s dedication ceremony. I look forward to our continued friendship with the people of Urambo and the country of Tanzania.

ASANTE.
