Warden Message—Credit Cards
U.S. Embassy Dar es Salaam
January 11, 2007
The Consular Section of the Embassy of the United States in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania happily announces that as of January 16, 2007, we take credit cards.
We are pleased to give our clients this added choice. Now, clients have three options for paying Consular fees:
- United States dollars,
- Tanzanian shillings, and
- widely-accepted credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card).
Fees for the following services may be paid by credit card:
- all American Citizen Services (passports, birth registrations, notarizations),
- all immigrant visa fees (petition filing fees, immigrant visa applications), and
- issuance fees for tourist and all other nonimmigrant visa issuance fees.
We cannot accept personal checks, payment in other currencies, or credit cards not mentioned above.
For American Citizen Services provided on outreach trips outside the Embassy, we will only accept payment by credit card.
There is no surcharge for using a credit card. Consular fees are charged in the United States directly in United States dollars.
There is no foreign currency transaction fee or conversion charges added to the amount.
The nonimmigrant visa application fee (currently $100) must still be paid in cash in Tanzanian shillings to our contractor, Citibank. Please see http://tanzania.usembassy.gov/visa_services.html for more details on the nonimmigrant visa application process.
